Camp by Sid Sackson Translated by John Webley Distributed from The Rules bank by Mike Siggins Contents 1 Game Board, 14 Tent markers (7 in each of two colours), 1 Move marker, 1 Set of Rules. Object of Game: The object of the game is to be the first player to arrange their tent markers so that they are all separate, ie they are not adjacent to another tent of the same colour, either vertically, horizontally nor diagonally. Preparation: The board is laid out on the table so that the long sides are next to the players. Each player takes 7 tent markers of the same colour and places them as in diagram 1 (Abb. 1) in the rules. The flat movement marker is placed on a movement space with a number 1 on it. Course of play: Each player plays in turn. Each turn a player moves one of their tents. They may be moved vertically, horizontally or diagonally onto a free space. They may not jump over any other tent, whether "friendly" or "enemy". The tent must always be moved exactly the number of spaces shown by the movement marker. After their turn the player moves the movement marker one space clockwise and then the next player takes their turn. If a player is unable to move any tent they lose their turn but must still move the movement marker. The distance that the tents move changes each turn in the pattern 1 - 2 - 3 - 1 etc. Hence one player's personal movement will be 1 - 3 - 2 - 1 and so on. Players should try to plan their moves with this in mind. Game End: The game ends immediately when none of a player's tents are adjacent to one another, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. Diagram 2 (Abb. 2) shows a possible winning position for the dark stones. A variant for experienced campers: One player takes all the tents and arranges them on the board as they wish. the other player then decides which of the two colours they wish to play and takes the first turn.
